Kaua’i: The Kalalau Trail
Hiking one of the world's great trails is either the most beautiful, or the most dangerous thing we've ever done. Or both at the same time. It all depended on the weather.
Visualization Artist, Photographer
I have a keen interest in all aspects of a production pipeline, developing a diverse skill set over my 10+ year career working on feature film and television projects. This includes production experience in modelling, matte painting, 2D/3D animation and FX, compositing, tracking, and render management.
My core artistic background is in photography, painting, and graphic design. Growing up watching the visual effects industry emerge as a force in filmmaking motivated me to start to apply my young art skills to a potential career. I couldn’t get enough of behind-the-scenes DVD documentaries and any in-depth article about VFX I could get my hands on. Building small scale models and mimicking techniques of industry heroes consumed my spare time. I still have a reverence for the trailblazers in our industry to this day.
Originally from southern Ontario, I’m lucky to now live and work in Vancouver, BC, Canada with my partner Andrea. We love this unique and stunning area of the world; the mountains and forests with their countless trails, the ocean and the beaches of the Pacific coast, and the culture of sustainability, active lifestyles, and craft beer.
My photography largely spotlights my love of landscapes, both at home here in BC and abroad. I love the outdoors and have a reverence for the natural world. The massive physical and time scale humbles and grounds me. I try to photograph what makes every place we visit unique, adding storytelling when possible. Often the landscape does it on its own.
Andrea and I are constantly finding ways to explore BC. Any free weekend can usually find us on the road heading into the mountains, the gulf islands, and expiring the endless variety of landscapes in the interior. Living on the western side of Canada is also an amazing springboard for travel beyond our province. We’ve enjoyed several long-winding roadtrips through the western United States, obsessing over America’s incredible National Parks, visiting nearly 20 of them so far. Adventures to New Zealand, South America, and Europe’s Eastern Mediterranean have built our love for being on the road together.
